Pet Species Information: Gerbil

I've been raising Gerbils for over a year now. They were something new to me since I rarely see them sold at Petshops. It might be the very first in our city. They look like mice but are hairier and have hairy tails. They come in may different colors black, brown, gray, white.

Introduction to Pet Species Information

Being an animal lover I've taken care of lots of pets in my entire life. From insects to mammals, all possible animals that can be treated as pets I've taken care of them already.

Even up to now I have multiple animal species pets (red-eared slider, gerbil, alligator gar, etc. ). With years of experience, I can say that I am almost an expert when it comes to pet care. Having said, I will

Of Mice and Rats

It's been a long time, actually months only, since I watched PETA videos on YouTube. I may be subscribed to them and they may be very active in posting new videos but I never watched any ever since watching the one entitled "CruelTea"(My post on that topic is here). Can't stand watching animals get hurt. :(

Caterpillar Bit Me

Ever since I was a child I took care of caterpillars. I wanted to see them undergo metamorphosis and emerge as butterflies. All of the caterpillars that I took care developed into butterflies yet had wing defects, their wings never fully stretched out. I later on decided to leave these caterpillars to where they belong, for nature can take care of them better than me.

Cockroaches: How I Hated Them

I love insects! I hold them and even took care of them, even up to now. But there's this one insect that I can barely stand to see crawling or most especially flying...  These pests rapidly multiply in number and terrorize frequently at night.Yes, they are cockroaches! They may be small but for me they are scary.

Let me share to you a brief history of how i came to fear cockroaches. This fear of mine has started since I was a child.

While I was in the kitchen, i don't remember what I was doing there, i felt a sudden tingling quickly moving on my right foot. I looked at my foot and saw that it was a cockroach. It ran inside my pajamas and I quickly jumped crazily (while crying) to dislodge it from its gripping on my leg. It took seconds for the intruder to fall down and ran away. For me those seconds were like minutes of torture. My parents came to see what had happened and I told them about the incident. My father was so mean, he laughed at me and said that it was just a cockroach, something that I am not to be afraid of. It felt so traumatic that every time I see cockroaches I run away wildly.

A Pledge for the Animals

"The question is not, "Can they reason?" nor, "Can they talk?" but "Can they suffer?""
- Jeremy Bentham

For whom might this quote be?
For those who don't know Jeremy Bentham just Google it... Actually, aside from all his major works in utilitarianism and economics, he is an animal rights advocate.
